Today's Trial Technicians are sometimes known as "Hot Seat Operators". However many go far beyond that not only in the understanding of how cases are put together, but how the entire case has evolved from intake to trial.

A common practice is to provide someone in the courtroom who only has the knowledge and experience to hit "Play".
A true experienced Trial Technician also:

  • Is a MASTER of Software applications such as InData Trial Director™, PowerPoint, Other Presentation Software, Linear Video Editors, Adobe Creative Suite™, Adobe Acrobat Pro & Other Document management and manipulation tools. As well as other software packages too extensive to list here.
  • Know how to Create, Paginate, Redact, OCR, Search, Combine, Chapterize, Extract, Print sections, Lock/Unlock, Highlight and Mark PDFs in Adobe Acrobat Professional™ or other PDF Tools. I have actually seen people in Trial without Acrobat Pro !!.
  • Has read and reviewed all the evidence to be familiar and to recall key pieces when needed.
  • Understands the Discovery process, the time periods, and can recall needed items from the Database they have created.
  • Understands Interrogatory responses, both in the existing matter and any historical responses that may be used in trial.
  • Familiarizes themselves with the complaint, the key issues within the case, and all the parties involvement whether still active in the trial or not.
  • Works with the Expert Witnesses and anything that they may present to the jury, making suggestions when warranted.
  • Prepares extensive impeachment items just in case they are needed.
  • Reviews Trial Transcripts when available, and loads into Presentation databases.
  • Maintains a running collection of screengrabs, documents, and video for use in closing arguments.  
  • Provides feedback to Firm Trial Team of Juror Observations.
  • Maintains a Trial Timeline, both Projected happenings per day as well as what actually happened in court to be used in summation.
